TRAINING DAY DETAIL:

The Business Case for Choosing the Right Technology

It’s all about positive return on investment – yet new technology is so often seen as an expense rather than an investment. In this session, Paul will describe the variables that need to be taken into account when assembling a business case for new technology.

Bespoke or Package

Many travel companies wrestle with the decision on whether to commission bespoke technology, built especially for your company, or whether to purchase an off-the-shelf package that doesn’t quite do what you need and which, in any case, isn’t even owned by your company. Learn about the factors that you need to consider when weighing up the best way forward –  bespoke or package.

CMS or CRS

There are a plethora of shareware or low cost content management systems, the best known being WordPress. On the other hand, there are expensive computer reservation systems which include CMS functionality.  Should you go low cost CMS or invest in a CRS?

The Best Way to Tackle a Technology Procurement Project

Over several decades, Paul has developed a carefully constructed methodology for procuring new technology. Its main objective is to maximise the chances of buying the optimal solution whilst minimising the risk inherent in such a project. Paul will share his approach to such procurement projects so that you can benefit from his knowledge and experience.

Negotiating Contracts and Agreeing Terms

Technology pricing and contract terms are rife with unfamiliar terminology that puts the vendor at a distinct advantage compared to a travel company that may only purchase new technology once or twice a decade. In this session, you will learn about the negotiating soft spots and the contract terms that need to be challenged and changed in your favour.

Implementation Time

Having taken the decision to procure new technology, there is still a significant risk of project failure. Learn about what can go wrong, what to watch out for and how to keep a project successfully on track.
